*Students need to have an understanding of comparative suffix endings er and est. RULES: ER=COMPARES 2 PEOPLE, PLACES OR THINGS EST=COMPARES MORE THAN TWO PEOPLE, PLACES, OR THINGS.
*Students will choose the correct verb to complete a sentence. Choices will include go, goes, gone, went, saw, see, sees, and seen.
*Students need to recognize the correct set-up of a friendly letter. RULES:
The greeting begins with a capital and ends with a comma. EXAMPLE: Dear Mrs. Barth,
The closing is centered in the middle, begins with a capital, and ends with a comma. EXAMPLE: Your pen pal,
The signature is directly below the closing and the name always begins with a capital. EXAMPLE: Jenna
*Students need to know that a Non Fiction Article gives information about real people, things, or events.
Story Quiz-Planet Earth
This quiz covers the vocabulary words from the story and story facts. I always send the reader home to review the story facts. The second take home of the reader can be read in a variety of ways. Your child can read to you, you can read to your child, you can share reading the story, or any other creative way you may choose.
Alone Grammar Worksheet
*Students will rewrite making corrections for the heading, greeting, closing, and signature of a friendly letter.
Remember the heading street name always begins with a capital. The city and state begin with capital letters and are divided with a comma. The month begins with a capital and a comma separates the number of the day from the number of the year.

*Students need to recognize a compound word. Remember that a compound word is two smaller words put together to make one bigger word. Each word can be used alone! EXAMPLES:Homework, cardboard, mailbox
*Students need to recognize the past tense form of the irregular verbs come, run, give, and sing.
*Students need to recognize a clue in a sentence that indicates the sentence is past tense. EXAMPLES: yesterday, last week, last month
*Students need to recognize the correct way to write a book title in a sentence. Remember all the important words in the title are capital, the first word is always capital, and the title is always underlined!
