Prayers For Teachers

A Prayer for Elementary Students

Father of all mercies
We ask that you would bless
the youngest and littlest of learners,
the most helpless and powerless of persons,
with Your infinite and loving mercy,
granting them the strength to learn, concentrate,
and act appropriately towards their teachers and fellow students.
We also ask that You would watch over them,
at home and at school
and grant them proper direction so that they may learn
of Your wonderful virtues.
We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen

Teacher's Prayer

I want to teach my students how
To live this life on earth
To face its struggles and its strife
And improve their worth
Not just the lesson in a book
Or how the rivers flow
But how to choose the proper path
Wherever they may go
To understand eternal truth
And know the right from wrong
And gather all the beauty of
A flower and a song
For if I help the world to grow
In widsom and in grace
Then I shall feel that I have won
And I have filled my place
And so I ask your guidance, God
That I may do my part
For character and confidence
And happiness of heart

Every Teacher's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you in prayer
for the children in my charge.
Lord, let me remember that tomorrow
is a new day...
Let me forget about Johnny sharpening my
favorite pen in the pencil sharpener.
Let me forget about Sarah breaking her crayons
into a million little pieces.
Let me forget about the messy desks,
spilled glue, and paper airplanes that never
quite made it to the garbage can.
Dear Lord, this is what I pray that you
will help me to remember:
Remind me that Jennifer's mom and dad just divorced,
so that I may have extra patience and understanding.
Remind me that Chris needs a snack when he gets to school,
he rarely gets to school in time for breakfast,
and can't pay attention when his tummy is always growling.
Remind me that Cassie has a brand new baby at home,
to make sure I give her plenty of extra attention.
And Lord, remind me to not frown when Joey
tells me he didn't get his homework done, again...
Let me not forget that he doesn't have a desk, a room,
or even a home of his own, that he does the best he can.
Dear Lord, there are so many more needs
to share with you!
Children who need shoes on their feet,
jackets on their backs, school supplies...
*sigh*
And these are just their physical needs.
Lord, you hear their prayers at night,
give them strength and courage to be the best
that they can possibly be.
Please, let me be a positive influence
in their little lives and
let my classroom be a warm, safe haven
against the storm.
Oh, Heavenly Father!
I almost forgot!
Lord, I pray you will help me to teach
every child how to read, write, and count!
AMEN

Wisdom

God grant me wisdom, creativity and love.
With wisdom, I may look to the future
and see the effect that my teaching will
have on these children and thus adapt my
methods to fit the needs of each one.
With creativity, I can prepare new and interesting
projects that can challenge my students and expand
their minds to set higher goals and dream loftier dreams.
With love, I can praise my students for jobs well done
and encourage them to get up and go when they fall.

My Prayer

Lord, let me be just what they need.
If they need someone to trust, let me be trustworthy.
If they need sympathy, let me sympathize.
If they need love, (and they do need love), let me love, in full measure.
Let me not anger easily, Lord but let me be just.
Permit my justice to be tempered in your mercy.
When I stand before them, Lord, let me look strong and good and honest and loving.
And let me be as strong and good and honest and loving as I look to them.
Help me to counsel the anxious, crack the covering of the shy, temper the rambunctious with a gentle attitude.
Permit me to teach only the truth.
Help me to inspire them so that learning will not cease at the classroom door.
Let the lessons they learn make their lives fruitful and happy.
And, Lord, let me bring them to You.
Teach them through me to love You.
Finally, permit me to learn the lessons they teach.
