INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE CITY OF EVANSVILLE!

There are approximately 126,272 people living in this city, and it is the third largest state in Indiana.

In October we have a wonderful street festival. The streets are filled with every kind of food you can imagine. You can eat such things as ostrich, squid, and even chocolate covered bugs! It is the second largest street festival in the country. Would you be brave enough to eat a bug?

Evansville has two Universities, the University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana. The University of Evansville is the home of the Purple Aces. Years ago it was named Evansville College. At that time, it won five national small college basketball championships. Boy, people still talk about that!

There are many other wonderful things to do in Evansville. Visitors enjoy touring the cities museum, zoo, malls, and attending the Otter minor league baseball games. In the summer they enjoy attending Thunder on the Ohio. It is a huge hydroplane race on the Ohio River. People from all over the country come to Evansville to sit on the riverbank and enjoy this fun event held every Fourth of July weekend.
