That would be me, just clowning around in the classroom!
I thought it would be interesting to include a little bit about myself in this web page. It is not uncommon for a parent to tell me they didn't know this or that about me, so here is your chance to learn all about me!
I have been teaching for THIRTY THREE years. I spent the first four years of my career teaching in Henderson,Ky. I taught one year of self-contained fourth grade and three years in a fifth-sixth split classroom. I taught reading, science and social studies during those three years. Upon the arrival of our first child, I took a four year break from teaching. When I returned to teaching I taught kindergarten at Methodist Temple for four years. After leaving Methodist Temple I happily began my career at Resurrection. I have been teaching second grade at Resurrection for the past twenty five years.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, shopping, and spending time with my family. I have a loving husband, two daughters, two sons-in-law, four "bee"utiful granddaughters, and two very handsome grandsons. Anytime you would like to see pictures of my grandchildren just ask. I now carry an entire album of pictures with me at all times! I also have an entire file cabinet with grandchildren pictures displayed in my classroom. I'm not a proud MeMe am I??
Both my father and mother passed away within 11 months of each other. My father passed away in April of 2011. My mother passed away in April of 2012. I really don't think I could have made it through this most difficult time without the prayers and concerns of my Resurrection students, friends, and families. I miss them every single day! I am fortunate to have one brother who lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is an elementary school principal. I am very lucky to have had my grandmother with me for many, many years. She passed away in 2004 at the age of 102 years young. She told us that she couldn't leave this world until she was finished raising us, and she still had some work to do.
One of my greatest joys is reading and instilling that love of reading in your children. It is a known fact that my "happy place" is that big green chair on the second floor of Barnes and Noble. Set me up with a big cup of coffee and a few good books and I am happy for hours! It is my hope that every child leaves my classroom with an amazing excitement for reading. P.S. One last bit of information about me. I love bees, bears, and of course Vera Bradley! Step into my classroom and you will see my obsessions!
I would love to hear from you. Won't you please send me a "bee" mail!
